Before opening her business, Iyat Dwaikat worked as a critical care nurse in the ICU. She decided that she preferred the “happy medicine” setting of a medspa.
Beauty treatments at Amar MedSpa and Wellness Center, 10500 W. Loomis Road, Suite 100 in Franklin, take into account every client’s personalized needs. Opening its doors in 2023, the clinic offers a wide array of procedures that include Botox, fillers, facials, IV therapy, hair rejuvenation, chemical peels and skin care. Owner Iyat Dwaikat is a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Injector who combines her background in critical care and aesthetics with her passion for helping others feel their best selves.
The Amar MedSpa website reads, “We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable beauty treatments. That’s why we offer competitive pricing and flexible payment options. We use only the highest-quality products and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that you receive the best possible care.”

Surrounded by nature, Amar is on Loomis Rd. in Franklin.
The clinic’s name comes from Dwaikat’s love for the moon and its natural beauty. Amar is the Arabic word for moon.
Originally from the northwest Chicago suburbs, Dwaikat grew up wanting to become a surgeon. She affirms, “That is completely different from what I’m doing today.”
While attending nursing school at Dominican University in Lake Forest, Illinois, Dwaikat worked in a chiropractor’s office and as a pediatric nurse. After finishing school, Dwaikat worked as a critical care nurse in the ICU, eventually getting a second job at a medspa.

“That job got taken away from me when the pandemic hit, and I kept thinking about it,” Dwaikat says. Once the COVID-19 quarantine was lifted, Dwaikat eagerly returned to the medspa setting, since she considers a spa to be “happy” medicine.
“When you’re working in the ICU, you see lots of death and sadness, and it wasn’t fun, even though I still felt fulfilled doing that. This is just a lot happier.”
Dwaikat and her husband moved to the Milwaukee area in 2022. She briefly worked in a surgical suite for oral maxillofacial surgery. Although Dwaikat knew in her heart that she wanted to get back into aesthetic medicine, she felt limited by Milwaukee’s existing options.
However, a little encouragement from her husband went a long way. Dwaikat remembers, “He said that if I can’t find a place that I love, I could build a place that I love. I started planning, and here we are.”
Amar MedSpa’s dedicated staff of five focuses on the individuality of each client rather than adhering to a cookie-cutter model of care.
They offer free beauty consultations to address any concerns a client may have, as well as inform clients of the risks and benefits of each treatment.
“Clients come in and say they feel so comfortable being here,” Dwaikat attests. “If you’re going into this industry to help people become more confident and feel their best, you shouldn’t be doing the opposite. We’ll see what fits best in their budget and what they’re most comfortable with.”
The clinic notably offers one of the only painless laser hair removal treatments in the state of Wisconsin. Clients can usually return to their daily activities right away after this procedure, rather than having to wait a few days. “That sets us apart because laser hurts,” Dwaikat notes. “I wanted to bring in a device that was safe on all skin tones.”

Amar MedSpa’s hydrafacial machine is similarly one of the best on the market, lauded for its compatibility with any skin type. Additionally, every skincare product the clinic uses is medical-grade and free of parabens and fragrances, with some of them available for sale in the clinic’s waiting room.
The clinic’s hair loss treatments are also quite popular, performed via plasma injections that only use plasma from one’s own body. Dwaikat explains that hair loss is a common issue many folks deal with in their 20s.
“They think that they’re the only ones going through it. Naturally, that can affect your confidence and how you feel about yourself. Some people rock the bald look, and they look amazing and feel amazing. But other people are more self-conscious, whether it’s due to genetics or hormones changing. Even COVID caused hair loss.”

Amar MedSpa offers six different VI peel formulas, each painless, and custom-picked according to a client’s skin type. Dwaikat mentions, “Most chemical peels are not safe for people who are a little darker than me, like a Fitzpatrick 3, 4, 5 or 6, but VI peel is safe for everyone.”
For hydrafacials, clients may choose between a simple, deluxe or platinum treatment. While clients must be 18 years old for most treatments at Amar MedSpa, the clinic does have facials and skincare treatments available for teenagers with parental consent.
“Thank you for considering our medspa for your beauty needs,” the website concludes. “We look forward to helping you achieve the beautiful, confident look you deserve.”
Dwaikat looks forward to bringing new devices to Amar MedSpa for benefits like muscle strengthening. She hopes to eventually grow her team and open a second location.
